Rack layout is personal
Place-setting numbers do not show how your plates, bowls, bottles, pans and utensils will fit. Adjustable tines, a third rack and height-adjustable upper racks can improve real usable capacity.

Take a photo of your everyday dishes before shopping. It makes rack comparisons much easier.
Understand sound ratings
Lower decibel ratings are generally quieter. Quiet performance matters most in open floor plans and kitchens used during conversation, television or sleep hours.
Compare drying systems
Drying performance varies by design, cycle, rinse-aid use and load type. Plastics are often the most difficult items to dry. Ask how the model handles them and whether longer cycles or door-opening systems are involved.
Plan the installation
- Confirm opening dimensions and floor height.
- Identify water, drain and electrical connections.
- Check panel and handle clearance.
- Ask what installation parts and modifications are included.
Think beyond the first day
Filter cleaning, detergent use, water conditions, parts access and local service can influence long-term satisfaction more than one extra cycle.
Dishwasher questions
Is a stainless-steel tub better?
It can aid heat retention, durability and sound control, but the wash and drying system still determine overall performance.
How quiet should my dishwasher be?
The right level depends on the room and your sensitivity to sound. Open kitchens usually benefit most from quieter models.
